Fan Art Friday! DBZ

The other day I overheard someone tell this joke-

How many Dragon Ball Z characters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
How many?
Just one, but it takes him 6 episodes.

and also-

How many Dragon Ball Z characters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
How many?
OVER 9,000!!!!!!

I loved this show growing up. I remember me and my friend would find images of DBZ characters on the internet, print them off, and then try and draw them. So, here's Goku about to throw a spirit bomb!

Avatar Korra!

I'm quite happy with how this came out.
Back when this series began I was skeptical.
Could I really love this new avatar and her friends as much as the old gang?
Could I love her baggy pants and muscular arms and strange hair-do?
Well now, I can definitely say, Korra... I love you.
I was literally cheering during the season finale.
I'm thinking of posting my painting process for this piece, since I think it represents some improvement for me. I was totally driven by fan-boy power.
Also, can you tell how experienced I am with painting water? Yeah, it looks kind of lame.
BUT IT'S THE AVATAR, SO YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH IT!!!

Playing Tennis

I've really never been competitive, in sports especially. I always viewed competitive people as really prideful when they won and really angry when they lost.
That is, until the spirits of competition awakened within me.
I realized that...it's ok to win. I LOVE to win, and I hate losing. Not because it's fun to boast, or because you are angry at someone else when they beat you, but because it's all about personal improvement.
Oh yeah, I totally am feeling it now. The joy...and also the rage. No more apathy!!! bring it on venus and serena!!!!

WHEN AM I?!?!

Yeah, for some reason I went with ghosts!!!
now it looks like a ghost buster or luigis mansion inspired piece.
what do ghosts have to do with time travelers?
Be creative! I have no idea! Maybe its a grand metaphor of how no matter how much he time travels, he can't escape....the ghosts of his past....
whoa. deep.

and by the way, I love his red gloves. LOVE THEM.
also, the ghost noses were inspired by these ghosts Lonesome Ghosts -Mickey Mouse

yeah, I'm gonna call this a work in progress.
This is for a group blog. The weekly theme was "lost time traveller".
As you can see, the lost time nomad is expressing fear, but nothing is causing it. I have yet to add something else in the image to allow it to tell more of a story.
so yeah...work in progress...
I think painting is beginning to make a lot more sense. I feel more in control...more powerful...I'm gaining a PROCESS.
I'm way too tired right now.

I realized I never uploaded this. It was my final for 2d animation. Its really rough still, but I'm mostly satisfied with it.

I never know what to write here...

Trying to get better at painting value/colors/lighting etc.
I drew the line art for this a while ago but never colored it. At the time I was musing over the singings of Lana del rey, who has really sad music. Methinks "she just seems like a sad pretty girl who only goes for stupid guys"... or weird beasts with hair worthy of a l'oreal commercial...
So then, this drawing came out of that. Does that make this fan art?
I'm done talking.

Go Catch Every Armadillo

yeah, I wish it looked better, but I think I'm just gonna upload it.
So, I got a Ukulele the other day and I loooooooooove it soooooooo muchhhhhhhhh. You know how when you're laying in bed about to sleep then suddenly the universe floods your mind with good ideas? The universe told me "Aaron, learn to play the Ukulele." So, I obeyed.
I named it Buddha because when I strum it its like I'm rubbing its belly.
To remember the letters of the strings I made the little phrase "Go Catch Every Armadillo" to remember the order is GCEA.
So, naturally, I decided to draw a picture of me playing Buddha on the back of an armadillasaur.
I think I need to spend more effort in color and lighting. I feel my line work is pretty solid, but from there I kind of fumble around until it looks half-ok like this.
